For the second straight time, TNT KaTropa head coach Nash Racela respectfully declined to do an interview with members of the press.
Racela – who is now in his second season manning the sidelines of the flagship MVP franchise – and his wards had just absorbed an embarrassing 82-112 beatdown at the hands of Jason Perkins and the Phoenix Fuel Masters, Friday.
“I don’t have answers” was the only thing Racela would say as press people asked him for a quick interview.
Nobody, even Racela, can tell what has been happening to the KaTropa as of late. The 30-point demolition they suffered from the Fuel Masters marked their third consecutive defeat, pulling their win-loss record down to 1-4.
And in the three losses they have absorbed from the Blackwater Elite, the league-leading Alaska Aces, and now Phoenix, the KaTropa have lost by a margin of 21.7 points – clearly uncharacteristic of TNT.
After Friday evening, TNT is now sitting at the seventh spot of the 2018 Governors’ Cup team standings.
TNT’s schedule in the season-ending conference is partly to blame, as it might play a factor in the team’s string of losses. Their game against the Fuel Masters was their fifth in 15 days.
Add to that the fact that their rotation has been cut down – TNT are still missing the services of Don Trollano, who is still with Gilas Pilipinas in the Asian Games. And versus Phoenix, scorer Terrence Romeo didn’t suit up due to flu.
But that’s just one part of the story. And no one yet has all the answers.
