After a rough opening game, ONIC PH bounced back and stomped TNC for a 2-1 reverse sweep in the MPL Philippines Season Nine, Sunday night.
Coming off a dominant Game Two win, ONIC PH made sure to carry the momentum in the do-or-die Game Three.
To start off, the MPL PH Season Eight grand finalist contained Robee “Yasuwo” Pormocille’s Clint down the bottom lane with Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy’s Rafaela helping Marky “Markyyyyy” Capacio’s Popol and Kupa in clearing minion waves.
The team also took out Yasuwo’s outside turret inside the first six minutes of the game. From there, ONIC PH snowballed to a 9K gold advantage with a 5-0 lead in the kills department past the 11-minute mark.
Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales had two kills and four assists on Kagura as ONIC PH ended the 7-0 domination with a 15K gold lead in 17 minutes and 25 seconds.
ONIC PH remained at the fifth spot with eight points off a 3-2 standing.
After a tight early game, TNC got its much-needed separation by securing the first Lord in the 10:31-minute.
The team then secured a four-man wipe past the 12th minute which paved the way for a free Luminous Lord take a couple of minutes later. Despite failing to end the game, TNC was able to take all but one of ONIC PH’s base turrets.
A five-man wipe following a fight near the Lord pit did the work for TNC.
Yasuwo’s Clint ran over ONIC PH with seven kills and five assists without a single death while Jomarie “Escalera” Delos Santos’ Kagura had four kills, a death, and four assists in the 16-7 Game One win in 17 minutes and 47 seconds.
Early aggression coming from Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (Ling) and Baloyskie (Rafaela) clamped up Daniel “SDzyz” Chu’s Lancelot in Game Two.
Kairi, who took out SDzyz, stole his orange buff, and secured the first turtle, gave ONIC OH an almost 2K gold advantage in the first three minutes of the game.
TNC scored its first kill with Ben “Benthings” Maglaque (Jawhead) ejecting Kairi inside their base. However, ONIC PH’s lead ballooned to as much as 10K in the entering the 12-minute mark.
ONIC PH secured the Luminous Lord in the 12:28-minute mark and went for the game-ending siege after.
Baloyskie finished with a game-high 10 assists without a death in the 13-1 Game Two stomp in 13 minutes and 54 seconds while Kairi had a 2-1-8 KDA line.
TNC kept the second spot with 11 points off a 3-2 slate.
ONIC PH will go up against the streaking ECHO on Friday at 8:00 PM while TNC will take on Nexplay EVOS on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
