Meralco saw one of its guards go down for the second game in a row.
The Bolts are holding their breath after Aaron Black is suspected to have sustained a right knee injury in their eventual win over Magnolia in Sunday’s PBA Philippine Cup action at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
It was just last Friday when the crew lost Chris Newsome in the closing seconds of their match against Phoenix at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Newsome’s knee collided with Fuel Masters forward Javee Mocon during a fight for positioning.
Their main man, though, allayed fears of suffering anything major. He even saw action in their 74-51 conquest of the Hotshots for their second straight win that forged a three-way tie with Rain or Shine and Terrafirma (5-5).
But the team could hardly celebrate the mini-win streak after Black went down in pain when he attacked the defense of James Laput at the 10:09-mark of the third.
He had to be carried by his teammates to the dugout.
Worse, he ‘heard something pop’ on his knee, per head coach Luigi Trillo.
“Accidental yung bangga pero sabi niya, hindi lang kirot e. Parang he heard something pop,” Trillo said. “‘Yung kay New kasi nung natamaan, when we came inside, it was a muscle. This one it’s on the side of the knee.”
However, nothing is definite yet until MRI results come out.
“We’re praying for AB,” Trillo said. “We just have to wait for the MRI. We know Aaron will be back eventually but for now, we can’t really say anything. Our prayers are with AB and we’ll see when the MRI comes out.”
