MDL PH: Echo take solo second as GameLab falters against Blacklist

Echo Proud survived a tight three-game thriller against ZOL Esports, 2-1, to take solo second in the standings after Blacklist Academy pulled the rug from under GameLab in Week 3 of the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) Philippines Season 1 on Tuesday.

Echo (3-2) now have 10pts on three wins and two losses while Blacklist Academy (3-2) forced a tie-for-second with RSG Ignite and Smart Omega Neos. GameLab though still leads the pack with 16pts (5-1).

It was goldlaner Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar who stole the show in the decider, as Echo played an almost perfect game, not conceding a single turret for the close-out win.

Outplayed secured the Game 3 MVP with the Claude built around a 3-1-12 KDA.

Meanwhile, Blacklist handed GameLab their first loss courtesy of a 2-1 reverse sweep.

GameLab had been on a tear in the MDL since opening day with five straight wins, all via sweeps until the Tier One-backed squad decoded them during Week 3’s encounter.

Goldlaner Lee Howard “Owl” Gonzales displayed superb marksmanship throughout the series going spotless in the final two games while compiling seven kills and 15 assists in total en route to a pair of MVPs.

RSG Ignite also kept pace with Blacklist for the second spot in the standings after blanking Nexplay Evos Tiger Cubs, 2-0, for their third win against two losses.

Patrick “rTzy” Grecia and Clarense “Kousei” Camilo took turns in leading RSG’s dominant performance on the way to finishing with stellar 5-0-15 and 8-1-6 KDAs, respectively, to split the match MVPs.

Bren Euphoria Esports also bounced back from their latest loss with a much-needed 2-1 victory over TNC Neo.

After TNC successfully forced extension courtesy of a solid play in Game 2, Bren left no stones unturned as they quickly took the series in less than 11 minutes buoyed by Jan Carl “Shizou” Valdez’s unkillable Harith who finished with seven kills and four assists without a single death.

They improved to seven points for the sixth spot in the standings.
