ONIC PH bounces back with clean sweep over AP.Bren in MPL PH

By: Jerod Orcullo

ONIC Philippines wrapped up Week 3 of MPL Philippines Season 15 on a high note, securing its second win of the season with a convincing 2-0 sweep over AP.Bren, Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

With the victory, the reigning M-Series World Champions improved to a 2-3 record, maintaining their hold on the fifth seed ahead of Smart Omega, who sits at 1-4.

Despite the team’s early struggles, ONIC head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin emphasized that they are still working on refining their game throughout the season.

“We’re happy that we won, pero ayun nga we’re still looking forward to improving on a daily basis, kasi mahaba pa yung season,” Ynot said.

ONIC dominated the first game thanks to Frince “SuperFrince” Ramirez’s stellar performance on Selena, who played a pivotal role in controlling the tempo. SuperFrince registered four kills and four assists without a single death in just 13 minutes and 12 seconds of game time.

Hungry for its first series win, “The Hive” responded aggressively in Game 2. AP.Bren managed to secure the enhanced lord at the 14:14 mark, courtesy of Jan “Shizou” Valdez’s standout play on Moskov.

However, the “Super Family” kept their composure in the closing moments to clinch the series sweep.

ONIC will look to build on this momentum when they face Smart Omega on March 22 at 5:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, AP.Bren will continue its hunt for its first win of the tournament in the final match of Week 4 Day 1, also against Omega.
