Magnolia has signed former Boston Celtic Jabari Bird to replace Rayvonte Rice ahead of Game 2 of the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup Quarterfinals.
The game is set to take place on Friday at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.
Bird will become the fourth import for Magnolia during this conference, following a series of import changes.
The Hotshots initially brought in Glenn Robinson III, before shifting to Shabazz Muhammad, who was later sidelined due to injury.
Rice, who made his debut in Game 1, contributed 16 points and two rebounds in a 109-105 loss to their Rain or Shine.
A product of the University of California, Berkeley, Bird was drafted as the 56th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Celtics.
He spent two seasons with Boston, along with time in the G League with the Maine Red Claws.
Over the last two years, Bird has taken his talents overseas, playing in Mexico and Indonesia.
Last season, he averaged 19.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game with Rajawali Medan.
