LA Tenorio dispelled fears of a serious injury after getting hurt during Game Three of the 2022 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals on Sunday night.
“Okay naman ako,” said the Ginebra star.
“Natapilok lang ng kaunti. Pero manageable naman, ‘di naman kailangan mag-worry.”
The 37-year-old playmaker got shaken up at the 9:28-mark of the second quarter, when his left ankle landed on the foot of Meralco counterpart Chris Banchero following a three-point attempt from the left-wing.
Referees then called a flagrant one (F1) on the Fil-Italian guard for the landing spot foul, which pinned him on the Bolts bench for three minutes.
Tenorio, on the other hand, refused to get subbed out. He even made all three of his free throws widening their lead to five, 32-27.
The 15-year veteran went on to finish the match with 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. But the Gin Kings failed to close the game out strongly and bowed to an 83-74 decision, putting them behind 2-1 in the series.
“Definitely, medyo nanggigil kami sa huli,” offered Tenorio, whose side went cold since tying the game up at 69-all with 9:15 left to play as it only scored five from that point while allowing the opposition to score 14.
“Hurried shots, forced shots. Kung ‘di man kami magfo-force ng shots, shot clock winding down ba. So, kailangan namin tignan ‘yon, kung ano ginagawa nila sa’min.” added the four-time Finals MVP, who went 0-for-5 from deep.
Ginebra now looks forward to Game Four on Wednesday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, and Tenorio believes that he’ll be healed up by then.
“Medyo kumikirot pero tingin ko, okay naman ‘to sa Wednesday. Kasi nailaro ko rin e,” said the PBA’s Ironman. “Kasi kung talagang namamaga, baka hindi ko na nalaro kanina. But ngayon, okay naman. Naka-tape naman.
“Kayang-kaya. Layo sa bituka.”
