Kim Dy glad to be back with F2 Logistics family

By: Ohmer Bautista

After a knee injury derailed her ascent in the professional scene early this year, F2 Logistics Cargo Mover Kim Kianna Dy made a successful return to a volleyball court, Saturday afternoon.

Earlier this year, Dy underwent surgery on her right knee. Today, she had seven points – three of which came from blocks – to help the F2 Logistics power past Generika-Ayala in straight-sets.

Beyond the numbers, though, the 5-foot-11 opposite hitter simply relished the opportunity to be back on the Taraflex and go to war with her long-time teammates.

“It feels good to be back kasi I’ve waited for this for a very long time,” confessedDy, who had seven points in three sets. “As in five months din akong [hindi] nakalaro, as in bola.

“So, ngayon, super excited and I’m happy na nakasama ko ulit sila ate Joy [Baron], si ate Aby [Maraño] sa loob ng court.”

When asked to specify her injury, Dy willingly described it, saying: “‘Yung tendon ko, manipis na. So they had to stitch it together.”

Admittedly, Dy has yet to regain her usual form on the court, but she is willing to take her time.

“Still needs improvement.

“Feeling ko hindi ko pa one hundred-percent yun,” confided the former Lady Archer, referring to her performance. “So, magi-improve pa ko sa training and magse-strengthening pa ako.”

Though it’ll take some time to be the player that she used to be, Dy knows all too well that having forbearance and trusting the rigorous process is essential. After all, the time she had spent off the playing field tested and molded her patience.

“Kasi sa therapy, you really need patience,” she asserted. “Kasi nasa loob ako ng therapy room at nakikita ko sila sa labas naglalaro. So, parang nakaka-frustrate na I really want to play with them na, pero hindi pa pwede. Eh kailangan eh. Kapag pinush ko naman na hindi pa okay yung tuhod ko, baka mas lumala rin.”

Now that she is finally back on the court, the process continues for the 23-year-old.

“Feeling ko it’s all in the mind na injured ako,” she confessed.

“So, itutuloy-tuloy ko na ‘yung pag-strengthen ko ng knee kasi hindi naman porke’t na naglalaro ako na isa-stop ko yung therapy ko, kasi kailangan tuloy-tuloy rin ‘yun.”
