Cantada, Dy, Santos, Ytang banner fresh faces in PNVF wishlist for Alas Women pool

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation has unveiled a 27-player wishlist that will serve as the backbone of the national team for the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup, set to be held in Candon from June 6 to 14.

Leading the new additions to the pool are Sam Cantada and Shaira Jardio of National University, along with Jaz Ellarina and Tin Ubaldo of Far Eastern University, and Niña Ytang from University of the Philippines.

They are joined by Premier Volleyball League standouts Kianna Dy of PLDT High Speed Hitters, Erika Santos of Cignal HD Spikers, Jean Asis of Galeries Tower Highrisers, and Riza Nogales of ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.

Creamline Cool Smashers playmaker Jia De Guzman will once again captain the pool, leading fellow holdovers Eya Laure and Maddie Madayag of Choco Mucho Flying Titans, Mars Alba, Fifi Sharma, and Justine Jazareno of Akari Chargers, Jen Nierva of Creamline, Alleiah Malaluan of PLDT, Vanie Gandler of Cignal, and Bella Belen of Capital1 Solar Spikers.

Meanwhile, the collegiate holdovers are bannered by Angel Canino and Amie Provido of De La Salle University, Shaina Nitura of Adamson University, and Arah Panique of National University.

Another Lady Spiker, Shevanah Laput, as well as Alyssa Solomon—who is currently playing in the SV.League—are also part of the pool.

Completing the group are NCAA standouts Zam Nolasco of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde and Vanessa Sarie of Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

The PNVF reaffirmed its commitment to player welfare, stating that it is addressing recent concerns and working on measures to improve conditions and support systems for the national pool.

“The PNVF reaffirms its commitment to the welfare of all national team athletes. We have heard the voices of our players and take their concerns seriously. The federation is actively addressing outstanding financial obligations and is committed to ensuring timely compensation and transparent financial processes going forward,” the federation said.

“Athletes joining the training pool will be entitled to clearly defined support structures, including competitive allowances, insurance coverage, and a communicated training and competition calendar that respects their club and personal schedules. PNVF commits to maintaining open dialogue channels with player representatives throughout the duration of the national team program.”

The federation added that the final training pool will be confirmed once invited players signify their availability, with preparations set to begin in early May.

After settling for silver in the previous edition of the AVC Women’s Cup, Alas Pilipinas will aim to go one step further and capture the gold on home soil.
