Right before she was defending and blocking against the University of the East Lady Warriors, De La Salle University Lady Spikers skipper Kianna Dy was defending her thesis in front of a panel, early Saturday morning.
The graduating opposite hitter was incredibly relieved to get her thesis out of the way, and to have played incredibly well against UE.
“Actually, seven months in the making ‘yung thesis namin,” said the Business Management major, who tallied 11 points against the Lady Warriors. “Successful naman, super happy with the results. After nung thesis na ‘yun, focus na sa game.
“We celebrated kasi maganda ‘yung results, then super na-lift ‘yung weight sa shoulder ko kasi tapos na ‘yung thesis namin.”
Just like after they won back-to-back UAAP championships, the 22-year-old La Sallian was thankful to have had incredible teammates for her thesis in Miki Chuaunsu, Caitlin Chua, and Nicole Doromal, who were very understanding of her stature as a student-athlete.
“I am so grateful for my groupmates. As in sobrang lucky na I found the three of them.
“They understand na I don’t have the time that they do. They understand din na super hectic ‘yung games and training namin. I do my best to contribute what I can,” expressed the UAAP Season 78 Women’s Volleyball Finals Most Valuable Player.
Playing in her final year in the UAAP. and now just waiting for her graduation rites, Dy is relishing the last months of her collegiate career.
“Nakaka-sad rin. I’m happy na may hint ng sad kasi happy na matatapos na and sad din kasi matatapos na ‘yung college life ko,” Dy shared.
“Siyempre, mami-miss ko ‘yung feeling na studying late at night. Siyempre, I’m gonna miss playing.”
