Kianna Dy progressing well in recovery, says Diego

Kianna Dy’s availability for F2 Logistics remains uncertain just days before the opening of the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference, according to head coach Regine Diego.

The 28-year-old spiker is making positive progress as she has already taken part in practice drills.

“Kay Kianna kasi yung knee surgery niya, it’s not ACL ah.

“We’re taking it day by day so let’s see if makalaro siya. Watch out lang tayo,” said Diego during the Second All-Filipino Conference media conference at the Discovery Suites on Wednesday.

Dy suffered a knee injury last July, causing her to miss the Cargo Movers’ semifinals campaign in the Invitational Conference, where they finished with a 1-3 record before losing the bronze match to Cignal.

The former UAAP Finals MVP is currently considered day-to-day and will be evaluated before returning to the court in the season-ending conference.

Despite Dy’s absence, Diego is confident that the rest of the team can step up and compete against a strong field in the second All-Filipino Conference.PVL-Presscon-Regine-Diego-8889 Kianna Dy progressing well in recovery, says Diego News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Siyempre lahat naman pressured to win. What we can do is do our best everyday and yeah, ang goal pa rin namin is mag-champion, lahat naman ng teams,” said the former NSNU coach.

“Then again, we have to go through a lot of games pa talaga para ma-achieve yung championship. We’re just gonna do our best and let’s see.”

Diego also revealed that the team’s strength and conditioning staff is working hard to ensure that the Cargo Movers are in top shape for a challenging conference that will include a total of 12 teams, including new squads Galleries and Nxled.

“Well, mahirap talaga kasi thrice a year kaming naglalaro and the preparation is super duper short. So, strength and conditioning, our team there is always doing their best,” said Diego.

“Pero siyempre sometimes there’s little accidents that can happen but the most we can do is try to control the things we can and pray for the things that we can’t.”
