F2 Logistics star Kianna Dy remained mum on her decision to beg off from the women’s national volleyball team that is set to represent the Philippines in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam, Wednesday afternoon.
The 5-foot-10 opposite hitter played for the Rebisco national team that took part in the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand last October.
She was also part of the initial pool that was released by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation last January.
However, when the 16-player squad was revealed last Tuesday, Dy, along with notable names such as Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Jia Morado-De Guzman, and Jasmine Nabor, were not on the list.
“Tara na coach,” quipped Dyon Wednesday afternoon following F2 Logistics’ four-set win over Black Mamba-Army.
“May personal reasons so hindi pa siguro time to disclose,” bared assistant coach Benson Bocboc, who answered for Dy.
Bocboc also revealed that Dy was coming off a back injury prior to the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference. Dy, though, downplayed the injury.
“Wala naman na siya ngayon. Ayon, continue pa rin ng theraphy para hindi bumalik,” said Dy, who was named the MVP of the PNVF Champions League last November.
For now, Dy is focused on helping the Cargo Movers’ title conquest in the PVL. Moreover, she’s just glad that the team finally made its debut in the country’s first-ever professional league after skipping the first conference last year.
“We’re very excited to be part of the PVL finally and yun, we’ll just keep on preparing and studying the other teams as we continue this tournament.”
