Alas Pilipinas is entering a crucial national team cycle with both a reinforced coaching staff and an extended preparation window as it gears up for multiple international competitions this year, beginning with the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
Leading the program is new head coach Tai Bundit, who will not be working alone as the Philippine National Volleyball Federation has assembled a strong and experienced coaching staff to support the national team’s campaign.
The group brings together some of the most respected names in local volleyball, blending collegiate, professional, and international experience.
Among Bundit’s key deputies are Sherwin Meneses of Creamline and Shaq Delos Santos of University of Santo Tomas.
Meneses, one of the most successful coaches in the Premier Volleyball League, reunites with Bundit after previously serving under him during their stints with Ateneo and Creamline. He also brings international exposure, having been part of the Philippine men’s national team staff as an assistant to Dante Alinsunurin.
Delos Santos adds another layer of leadership, having previously served as head coach of the national team in 2019.
A proven winner across multiple levels, he guided UST to UAAP championships and Petron to titles in the Philippine Superliga while also steering Cignal to several finals appearances in the PVL.
Rounding out the staff are Benson Bocboc of Farm Fresh and JP Yude of Adamson University, along with Geuel Asia and Krung Arbasto, the latter also working with Bundit at Criss Cross.
The full coaching group was formally introduced to the players during a team meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
With the leadership structure in place, Alas now turns its attention to a packed training schedule ahead of its continental campaign.
The team will open its training camp on Friday, running until May 23, before shifting its buildup to Candon for the next phase of preparations.
From May 24 to June 5, the national team will continue its intensive training in Candon, fine-tuning its system and finalizing its roster in preparation for the AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup set from June 6 to 14.
The national team is aiming to improve on its silver-medal finish from the previous edition and mount a stronger title challenge on the Asian stage.
Following its AVC campaign, Alas will take a brief four-day break before resuming training from June 18 to July 9 as it begins preparation for its next assignment.
The program then continues its international buildup with a 10-day training camp in Chinese Taipei from July 11 to 21, a key step in its final preparations for the first leg of the SEA V.League.
