Karl Dimaculangan remains proud as NU shows improvements vs La Salle

Despite suffering another sweep at the hands of De La Salle University, National University remains upbeat.

This as the Lady Spikers punished the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, 26-24, 26-24, 25-16, to stay unbeaten in eight outings.

But according to NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan, this loss was different than their defeat last Wednesday, a 25-10, 25-15, 25-21 beatdown.UAAP-85-WVB-DLSU-vs.-NU-Jen-Nierva-8648 Karl Dimaculangan remains proud as NU shows improvements vs La Salle News NU UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

“It was a good game naman kaso kinulang lang talaga kami,” said Dimaculangan shortly after his Lady Bulldogs drop to a share of third with University of Santo Tomas at 5-3.

“Different story kasi eh kasi yung first game talaga as in all La Salle but now this game naman siguro yung endgame lapses namin yun yung malaking factor.”

This was a complete reversal of what transpired in Season 84 where NU went 4-0 against La Salle.

But even though in the midst of a two-game slump, an unfamiliar territory, Dimaculangan knows and believes that his wards will bounce back.

Mhicaela Belen led NU with 17 points while Vange Alinsug chipped in 14 points and seven excellent receptions.UAAP-85-WVB-DLSU-vs.-NU-Vange-Alinsug-8452 Karl Dimaculangan remains proud as NU shows improvements vs La Salle News NU UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

Alinsug took the place of Princess Robles in the First Six as the latter’s knee is swollen but still played as a service specialist in the match.

Dimaculangan said that they would have Robles checked on Monday to know the reason of her condition.

The second-year tactician also said that the Lady Bulldogs should not dwell on these losses to La Salle as the second round has just started with six games left.

NU will try to get back on the right track next Saturday against University of the Philippines.

“Kailangan namin mag move forward na kaagad and prepare na kami sa next game namin kasi second round na, kailangan move on lang kami agad bawat game lang,” said Dimaculangan.
