Kai Sotto should hone skills in US, says Kobe Paras

For Kobe Paras, it would be much better for towering high school sensation Kai Sotto to hone his skills in the United States, instead of here in the Philippines.

The 20-year-old second-generation star dished out this piece of advice for Sotto through his Twitter account Friday morning, by quoting ABS-CBN Sports’ Twitvid showing the Ateneo Blue Eaglets’ highlights from a UAAP Juniors match.

“I was 15 years old when I moved out here in LA,” tweeted Paras. “Hopefully one day Kai may make a mature decision to continue his basketball career here in the States so that he won’t get rotten and brained washed in Manila.

“Endless opportunities available here for that young bull.”

Paras has been living in the US for years now and had a solid high school career with Cathedral High. He then became a three-star recruit — a status that landed him in UCLA back in 2016, though it did not push through.

The former La Salle-Greenhills stud then went to another NCAA Division 1 school in Creighton, but due to the limited minutes he had as a freshman, he decided to transfer to Cal State-Northridge for his sophomore year.

The seven-foot-one Sotto, on the other hand, is just starting his second year with the Blue Eaglets. He started his sophomore campaign in style, posting 24 points, 12 rebounds, and seven blocks in 23 minutes against Adamson last Saturday.

Now, it’s all on the 15-year-old Sotto if he will take his Gilas Pilipinas kuya’s advice.
