After a long wait, Justin Brownlee is all set to play for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel this 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
Brownlee’s return to the Gin Kings was confirmed by his agent Sheryl Reyes via Twitter and by Ginebra head coach Tim Cone through a text message to Tiebreaker Times, Monday.
“Yes, we are bringing Justin back,” relayed the multi-titled mentor.
The Ginebra faithful had been clamoring for the the six-foot-five American’s return right after his championship run with the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League. He averaged 21.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists during the tournament.
That clamor grew even louder as the Barangay has shown struggles in the mid-season tilt. Ginebra is now 1-3 in the standings after losing to the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 98-103, Sunday.
Brownlee will be taking over Charles Garcia. The versatile 6-foot-10 center will leave the Barangay with averages of 17.75 points, 10.25 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in four games.
Brownlee’s return will somehow revolve around unfinished business. The last time he played in the same conference was in 2017, where they went to the semis only to lose to TNT Katropa.
