Junna Tsukii takes PH’s first SEAG karate gold

Junna Tsukii gave the Philippines its first gold medal in Karatedo in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Saturday afternoon at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The 2018 Asian Games bronze medalist defeated Vietnam’s Ding Thi Huong to rule the kumite individual female -50kg.

Norman Montalvo tried to emulate Tsukii’s success, but he failed to reach the mark. He instead lost to Selvam Prem Kumar of Malaysia, 1-6, in the kumite indivual male -55kg category to settle with silver.
