Jordan Sta. Ana to reunite with Jeff Napa in Letran

Student and mentor reunite in Muralla

A day after Jordan Sta. Ana left University of Santo Tomas, one of the first people who called him up was his former head coach in Nazarath School of National University, Jeff Napa.

“Oo, nagkausap na kami ni coach,” Sta. Ana confessed. “Tinanong niya ko kung pwede daw ba na magsama kami ulit sa isang team. Sabi ko naman hindi pa ako ready lumipat.”

But apparently, he could not resist his former mentor, as Sta. Ana has committed to join the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights.

“Nasa akin na siya. Sta. Ana has committed to play with Letran,” Napa disclosed after Letran’s 94-71 win over the JRU Heavy Bombers in the 2018 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup presented by Chooks-to-Go.

Sta. Ana will have to sit out one year before getting to suit up for the Knights. For Napa, this is just in time, as Bong Quinto and Bonbon Batiller will have exhausted their eligibility come the NCAA Season 95 Seniors Basketball Tournament.

“Tatlong taon kong hinawakan si Jordan,” added Napa. “Maraming magragraduate sa amin. In preparationg na rin ito sa future ng Letran program.

“At least consistent kami sa vision namin na mabalik yung previous accomplishments ng Letran.”

Sta. Ana, a 5-foot-11 swingman, played two years in the UAAP. He averaged just 1.3 points back in 2015 for the UE Red Warriors. He sat out the UAAP Season 79 tournament as he transferred to UST. He posted norms of 11.1 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in his only year in UST.
