The first signing of Flying V is nothing short of thunderous
2017 Aspirants Cup leading scorer Jeron Teng has been signed by PBA D-League neophytes Flying V Thunder, as confirmed by the the team on Monday morning.
During his first D-League stint, the 23-year-old forward led the AMA Online Education Titans to their first quarterfinals appearance. However, they were eliminated by the Tanduay Rhum Masters, and Teng had to do it all for the Titans after Juami Tiongson was picked up by the NLEX Road Warriors. He averaged a league-high 23.2 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists in 37.9 minutes in his maiden D-League stint.
This will also be a reunion between Teng and Thunder head coach Eric Altamirano. Altamirano was the mentor of Teng back in 2009 with the now-legendary Nokia U-16 team.
Flying V still look to complete a lineup that is in-line with their vision of having a team that is composed of players from various UAAP schools.
“I hope that the players for the Thunder will be a mix of players from various schools to show unity and diversity,” said team owner Ramon Villavicencio.
This Foundation Cup run will allow Teng to enlist for the 2017 PBA Draft once he completes seven games.
