Jaja Santiago plays limited minutes as Ageo Medics cruise to back-to-back wins in V.League

Jaja Santiago and Ageo Medics notched their second-straight victory after dumping Himeji, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23, Sunday in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 Women’s Tournament at the Saitama City Memorial Gymnasium.

The 6-foot-5 Filipina middle blocker was silent, only tallying four points. Still, she remained a force at the net with three blocks out of her team’s seven.

Team leaders Mami Uchiseto and Yuri Yoshino were fantastic once again, unloading 20 and 12 markers, respectively.

Kyoko Aoyagi breached double-digits in points as well with 13 on 10 attacks, two service aces, and a block kill.

Ageo Medics improved to a game over .500 at 9-8, good for fifth place.

Yuka Kanasugi was the lone bright spot for Victorina with 14 points under her name.

Nana Sonoda almost reached twin figures with nine markers as Himeji slipped to 3-14.

Santiago and Saitama aim for three in a row when they play third seed JT Marvelous on Saturday, Jan. 30, 12 pm, at the Maishima Arena in Osaka.
