Jaja Santiago completes naturalization, takes Sachi Minowa as Japanese name

Jaja Santiago has officially completed her naturalization process, taking Sachi Minowa as her Japanese name.

The announcement came on Saturday.

The 28-year-old native of Tanza, Cavite, shared her heartfelt thoughts with fans and supporters, reflecting on the sacrifices and challenges that led to this momentous decision.

“Changing my nationality was never an easy decision,” Santiago said.

“I sacrificed a lot to make my dream come true. Some people support my decision, while others don’t understand it. But this is for my dream.”

Santiago started playing in Japan in 2019.

Currently with JT Marvelous, she has become a prominent figure in the Japanese volleyball scene.

With her new citizenship, Santiago is now set to join the Japanese Women’s National Volleyball Team pool.

Her husband, whom she married in August 2022, has been a pillar of strength during this transition.

Santiago also extended her thanks to her mother club in the Philippines Chery Tiggo and Tats Suzara, president of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, for their unwavering support.
