Last September, Isaiah Austin and Kiefer Ravena fought tooth and nail against the toughest club teams in Asia during the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Chenzhou, China.
With the two leading the way for Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas, the quickly-formed team put up gallant stands, ending their campaign at fifth place in the invitational meet.
And it’s a partnership that the two will never forget.
So when Ravena was slapped with the harshest sanction imposed by the International Basketball Federation last Monday after testing positive for three banned substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the 24-year-old American took to Twitter to support his brother-in-arms.
“The real always win in the end. Kiefer Ravena hold your head high.
“Proud of how you are handling this situation like a real man bro. You got my respect forever,” read Austin’s tweet.
Austin averaged 20.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks in the tournament, while Ravena posted norms of 20.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
Though there are plans by Chooks-to-Go to bring Austin back one day, the dynamic duo will not get to share the floor together until August 24, 2019 — the last day of Ravena’s suspension.
Still, Austin — who has faced plenty of obstacles in his own life — knows that this is just a challenge that the skipper of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas has to overcome in order to move forward.
“All part of God’s plan.”
