National University libero Shaira Jardio is making waves in the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Volleyball Tournament with an exceptional campaign.
The 21-year-old currently leads the Best Libero race with an impressive 205 ranking points. Even more remarkable, she has cracked the top 10 of the MVP standings with 106 statistical points—making her the only libero in the prestigious list.
Despite her stellar performance in the first round, Jardio refuses to be complacent, remaining focused on further improving her game to make an even greater impact for the Lady Bulldogs in the crucial stretch of the season.
“For me po kasi, hindi pa ako satisfied sa mga laro ko. Mas gusto ko pang mag-improve sa tulong ni Coach She [Meneses],” said Jardio.
The NU-Nazareth School standout feels determined to lead the Lady Bulldogs to back-to-back titles, fully embracing her role and committing to whatever it takes to push her team toward another championship.
“Yung motivation ko is mag-back-to-back po kami.
Jardio’s determination was on full display on Sunday night, leading NU to a crucial bounce-back victory against Far Eastern University, 25-22, 24-26, 26-24, 25-18, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Anchoring NU’s defense, she recorded 27 excellent digs and 12 excellent receptions, fending off the Lady Tamaraws’ relentless attacks.
The win was a much-needed boost for the Lady Bulldogs, who were coming off a grueling five-set loss to the University of the Philippines last Wednesday.
