ONIC PH rallies for reverse sweep vs Twisted minds, extends MPL PH streak to 3

By: Jerod Orcullo

ONIC Philippines extended its winning streak to three after overcoming a Game 1 loss to complete a 2-1 reverse sweep against Twisted Minds in MPL Philippines Season 15 on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas lived up to his moniker as the “Gold Standard” played masterfully throughout the series despite constant aggressiveness from Twisted Minds.

In ONIC’s post-game interview, Kelra took his time to praise Twisted Minds’ performance, particularly in the early stages of each game in the series.

“Sa performance ng Twisted Minds, sobrang ganda din talaga ng naging laro nila lalo nung early game nila since yung hero nila talagang early. Kaya naman tatlong laro kami nahirapan ng early game, lahat naman nahirapan kami, lahat sila,” he shared.

After a tough loss in Game 2, Kelra spearheaded ONIC to weather Twisted Minds’ early to mid-game lead. His Karrie finished with 10 kills and two assists in their 23-minute and 11-second comeback victory.

To finish the series, Twisted Minds pulled out a Guinevere in the roam position to try and mess with ONIC’s momentum. Yet, it was once again Kelra who paced his team as his Harith finished with a 7/0/4 KDA in 16 minutes and 25 seconds of game time.

Twisted Minds managed to snatch Game 1 through a stellar showing by James “Jeymz” Gloria, putting up eight assists with four kills on just two deaths.

The “Super Family” will face off against TNC Pro Team on March 28 on the opening day of the second round of the season at 7:30 PM.
