Illa Santos signs with Choco Mucho

La Salle’s legendary titan will finally make her return

Manilla Santos-Ng has signed with PVL club team Choco Mucho for their 2019 Open Conference campaign.

The team’s official Twitter account confirmed the development.

For the past few months, press have reported that Santos, now 33 years old, has been training hard for a possible comeback.

The 5-foot-4 spiker was said to be joining Creamline. However, she will be playing for the Cool Smashers’ sister team instead.

This will end Santos’ decade-long hiatus from the game.

Back in UAAP Season 71, Santos led the DLSU Lady Spikers to the top of the collegiate volleyball world, winning the Most Valuable Player plum in the process.

The four-time UAAP champion would then have her no. 14 jersey retired by the school afterward.

In Choco Mucho, Santos joins Ateneo’s Big Three of Kat Tolentino, Bea De Leon, and Maddie Madayag.

The Open Conference begins on Saturday, August 10.
