Glen Rice, Jr. starts to get accustomed to PBA style of play


For two games now, TNT Katropa’s Glen Rice, Jr. has been playing on a different level in the 2017 Governor’s Cup — far from the performance he put up in his debut last August 20 against Rain or Shine where he played dismally.

After scoring 19 points on 22 shots versus the Elasto Painters, Rice, Jr. made up for it in his second game against the Phoenix Fuel Masters, dropping 38 points on 58 percent shooting alongside nine rebounds, six assists, three blocks, and three steals.

Rice continued to impress Wednesday night, this time against the Blackwater Elite. In their 117-96 demolition of the Elite, Rice produced 31 points, six rebounds, and a whopping seven steals.

“Slowly, he’s getting a feel of the league, how they call fouls here and how we play physical,” lauded TNT head coach Nash Racela of the Miami-born 26-year-old.

“As long as he continues to understand that, okay yun sa amin.”

The former Washington Wizard admits that he is still learning to the league’s style of play. But for him, the credit goes out to his teammates, for the guidance they provide to the six-foot-five guard-forward in terms of adjustment.

“I’m adjusting. My teammates are helping me adjust,” said 35th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. “We’re still learning how to play with each other.

“We’re gonna get better and better as a team, as long as we play and practice together.”
