The wait continues for Barangay Ginebra.
Head coach Tim Cone said the team has yet to see a much clearer picture with regards to the extent of Stanley Pringle’s knee injury.
“We still don’t know exactly where he is at yet,” Cone said Sunday after the Gin Kings’ 125-121 win over Phoenix in PBA Governors’ Cup action.
The one-time BPC was initially assessed to have suffered an ACL injury, although there remains hope that it may not be as serious.
He underwent another MRI scan last Friday, the reason why he wasn’t with the crowd darlings in their 108-82 conquest of NorthPort.
Pringle was present against the Fuel Masters but was in street clothes along with Mark Caguioa, Joe Devance, Jared Dillinger, and Aljon Mariano.
“We’re getting different opinions,” said the champion bench tactician.
“So we still don’t know how long he’s gonna be out, what his timetable is.“
If it’s any consolation amidst the anxiety, it is that Ginebra has been able to pull through despite missing the star guard’s services, said Cone.
Against Phoenix, Justin Brownlee and Christian Standhardinger carried the load offensively, scoring 31 and 30 points, respectively.
The star who shone the brightest, though, was LA Tenorio, who hit two big triples down the stretch to help his side come back and emerge triumphantly.
Then there’s also Arvin Tolentino, who reset his career-high to 20 points, eclipsing the 16 he made against the Batang Pier last Friday.
Ginebra improved to 3-0 to go solo at second in the standings.
“I really appreciate that kind of effort that we’re playing (with), especially without having Stanley in the line-up for the last two games,” said Cone.
“Not having him in the line-up and being able to win these last two games is really quite satisfying.”
