Fnatic ONIC extends win streak to 11, clinches MPL PH upper-bracket playoff spot

Fnatic ONIC Philippines extended their win streak to 11 games and secured the first upper-bracket slot in the playoffs after defeating Aurora in a thrilling three-game series, 2-1, in the MPL Philippines on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

This victory also matched the impressive 11-0 records set by Blacklist International and Team Liquid (formerly ECHO) in Seasons 8 and 12, respectively.

The pivotal moment came during the 14th minute and eight seconds of Game 3 when King “K1NGKONG” Perez delivered a triple kill in the final clash of the bottom lane, securing the win for ONIC just moments after the skirmish.

K1NGKONG was named MVP of the match, boasting a flawless record of 11 kills and two assists.

“Masaya ako for the whole players, lalo na sa mga ‘to kase parang si Frince… Ilang season na si Frince [tapos] first time niyang makakalagpas ng Day 1 [ng playoffs]. Last season, masaya kami parang kay K1NGKONG kase nakaapak siya ng playoffs,” said head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin during the post-match interview.

“Kumbaga medyo milestone siya even na may isang linggo pa, pero yun nga, again, may laban pa kami bukas eh. So, I think una pa rin yung aral pa rin mamaya, Parang eto si Duanne (Kelra) kanina pati yung apat, pagkatapos noong series, ‘Coach anong nangyari noong Game 1 at Game 2.’ So, ibibigay ko pa rin ang lahat,” he added.

In Game 1, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez shone on his Valentina, finishing with six kills, 13 assists, and just one death, leading his team to victory in a swift 15 minutes and 33 seconds with a kill score of 21-9.

Meanwhile, Edward “Edward” Dapadap took the reins for Aurora in Game 2, dominating the match and holding Fnatic ONIC to just a single kill throughout the entire game, evening the series at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Fnatic ONIC Philippines aims to break the record for the longest winning streak in MPL PH history when they face RSG Philippines on Sunday at 5:00 PM.

On the other hand, Aurora will seek to bounce back from their loss when they face the same team on October 5 at 5:00 PM.
