Quentin Millora-Brown has officially been reclassified as a local player for the Philippines in FIBA competitions.
On Thursday evening (Manila time), Millora-Brown’s camp, led by agent Tod Seidel, received confirmation from FIBA that they had successfully proven he obtained his Philippine passport before the age of 16.
The update has already been reflected in FIBA’s official player portal, which now lists Millora-Brown as a local player for the Philippines.
In a document obtained by Tiebreaker Times, Millora-Brown’s legal team, composed of Ale Mosca and Toni Verano, showed that their client received his passport at just four years old, back in 2005.
The passport was also authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
With this ruling, the 25-year-old big man, who played a one-and-done stint with the University of the Philippines during UAAP Season 87, can immediately join Gilas Pilipinas Men starting with the November window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.
It’s a timely boost for Tim Cone’s program, especially after the Asia Cup 2025 highlighted the team’s need for agile big men.
“He’s awesome. I’d love to have him,” said Cone during Gilas’ friendly match against Macau last July 29 about Millora-Brown.
“He is physical. He gets to the offensive boards real well. Great size. But it’s not there yet.”
Standing at 6-foot-10, Millora-Brown will now form a formidable frontline alongside 7-foot-3 Kai Sotto and 6-foot-10 AJ Edu.
The ruling also opens professional doors for Millora-Brown, making him eligible to sign with any team in Japan’s B.League as an Asian import.
However, he remains ineligible to play as an Asian Quota import in both the KBL and the TPBL, as those leagues require both parents of a player to hold Philippine passports.
More importantly, he can now fulfill his dream of representing the country of his late grandfather, Dr. Angel Millora.
