Dez Wells drops 42 as San Miguel opens Grand Slam bid with Phoenix whipping


The San Miguel Beermen’s Grand Slam bid is off to a good start after they ripped into the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters, 130-119, in their 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup opener, Wednesday night at SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Import Dez Wells powered the Beermen with 42 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in the rout.

SMB pulled away in the third canto, unloading an overwhelming 23-2 scoring explosion to turn a slim five-point lead, 80-75, to a wide 103-77 advantage with 2:22 left in the period.
