It did not take long for Calvin Abueva to air his side regarding his spat with Bobby Ray Parks, Jr.’s girlfriend Maika Rivera during Phoenix’s game against Blackwater.
With his wife Solome at his side, Abueva went to social media platform Instagram to explain what had transpired.
Nakausap ko yung konteng media at mali niya yung nangyari,” opined Abueva, as he aired a live video at around 10:30 pm.
I don’t know? Sirain niya ko sa laro?” he continued.
Abueva alleged that Rivera and her friends had been heckling him all game long. And it came to a boiling point when Abueva fouled out of the game with 11 seconds left in the game.
Okay panalo kami, eto ka,” he narrated as Phoenix won the game 103-98.
That’s when he called Rivera the b-word and mocked her afterward.
For him, this is his way of retaliating after her cusses towards him.
May ibang player diyan, ganun din gagawin pag nangyari yun,” he said.
Abueva then redirected his attention to Ginebra player and Parks’ good friend Sol Mercado.
Moments after the game, Mercado replied to one of Parks’ tweets, saying that he wasn’t surprised by Abueva’s antics and that the players should maintain a certain standard during these incidents.
That’s unfortunate bro… it’s sad to say I’m not surprised either, u have every right to be upset ??♂️ let @riveramaika97 know to not let him ruin her night. Focus y’all energy on better things. He’s not even worth it! Big hugs ? to the lady

I agree with you… as professionals we should be held to a certain standard of respect to our viewers especially those that are actually at the venues. But beyond that be conscious of the energy you give to it. He’s not worth it bro. ??

“Yung sinasabi ni Sol, ganito na ko. Na-appreciate ko yun dahil I don’t know.
Don’t judge me! Stop na lang. Don’t talk.”
Still, Abueva apologized to Parks, who is six years his junior. But what he won’t do is apologize to Rivera.
“Para kay Ray Parks. Sa iyo lang ako magso-sorry. Alam ko naging okay tayo,” he said.
“Pero I don’t know your girlfriend, pero hindi ako nag-apologize dahil hindi ako nag-umpisa siya. I apologize Rayray Parks. Sa girlfriend niya, this is not my fault. Sa kanya yun,” Abueva stressed.
“Bakit mo ko mumurahin? Yun yung paliwanag ko.”
