Daquis, Gonzaga named to ‘Magnificent 7’


RC Cola-Army veterans Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga were the first members announced for the Philppine contingent that will compete in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship to be held at the SM MoA Arena on October 18-23.

Philippine Superliga president Ramon “Tats” Suzara made the announcement before an excited crowd at the Cuneta Astrodome in between PSL AFC matches.

Reigning PSL All-Filipino Conference MVP Daquis has long participated for the national team, logging important minutes for multiple SEA Games teams. Same goes for Gonzaga who was named the PSL Invitational Cup MVP among many other individual plums.

The Philippine team that will compete in the World Club Championships will consist of seven locals and seven imports to contend with international powerhouses Hisamitsu Springs of Japan, Rexona Ades of Brazil, Pomi Casalmaggiore of Italy, Bangkok Glass of Thailand, Eczacibasi Vitra and VakifBank of Turkey, Volero Zurich of Switzerland.
