Creamline continued its dominance, stretching its unbeaten run to eight games after sweeping Chery Tiggo, 25-17, 25-17, 25-21, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Thursday at the Philsports Arena.
The Cool Smashers had a field day against the Crossovers, leaning on their balanced offensive attack to strengthen their grip of the top spot with an immaculate 8-0 record.
Chery Tiggo threatened to extend the game to a fourth set after tying the game at 19-all, but Jema Galanza, Jeanette Panaga, and Tots Carlos spearheaded a 5-1 run to push Creamline at match point, 24-20.
Jules Samonte saved a point for the Crossovers with a cross-court kill, before Alyssa Valdez sealed the game-winning attack to complete the win after an hour and 22 minutes of action.
“Syempre malaking tulong samin yung panalo ngayon kasi nga nakuha namin yung game ngayon ng three sets. Kasi last time, medyo di naman– nagrelax sa third set, nakuha ng kalaban yung third set, ngayon naging lesson samin yung last game namin,” said Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses.
“So sobrang thankful sa mga player din, nag-response din sa third set. Yung Chery Tiggo veteran team din sila, talagang dapat paghandaan sila nang mabuti so ayun (ang ginawa namin),” he added.
Bea De Leon was the top scorer for Creamline with 13 points on eight attacks, three aces, and two kill blocks.
“Personally, gusto ko lang talaga mag-aim for consistency so I wanted to come to this game with a really good mindset and really focused, syempre with the help of my teammates,” said De Leon.
Jema Galanza scored nine points to go along with five excellent receptions. Panaga and Carlos, meanwhile, each had eight markers in the sweep.
Valdez and Pons also provided decent contribution despite limited minutes. The former had seven points in two sets played, while Pons scored six points in the first frame before sitting out the next two.
Creamline aims to make it nine wins in a row against Farm Fresh on Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at the same venue.
On the other hand, the Crossovers have now lost back-to-back games and slipped to 5-5 to remain in the sixth spot.
Ara Galang was the lone bright spot for Chery Tiggo with 14 points on 12 attacks and two kill blocks. Pauline Gaston, Cess Robles, and Samonte all had five markers in the loss.
Chery Tiggo will get a two-week break before flying to Passi, Iloilo where they will face off against Choco Mucho on February 22.
