It’s been just a month since Cholo Anonuevo left for the States, and the all-around 6-foot-4 guard has already received interest from a Division I school.
Anonuevo received a formal offer from Tennessee State University, Monday morning (Manila time).
Coach Penny Collins himself met with Anonuevo over Zoom.
“We are offering you an athletic scholarship to Tennessee State University,” the second year head coach said in a video obtained by Tiebreaker Times.
This is Anonuevo’s first-ever offer from a college in the US.
Shocked, the 18-year-old was lost for words.
“Overwhelmed. Just overwhelmed,” was all he could utter.
During his Grade 12 year in Far Eastern University-Diliman, Anonuevo, who committed to Far Eastern University for college, posted numbers of 9.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Last July 24, he left the country to train under East West Private.
On the other hand, Tennessee State is a Div I team competing in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Tigers were supposed to compete in the 2020 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
