Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu added another Filipino mixed martial artist to his list of victims.
This time around, the No. 5-round bantamweight MMA contender pulled off a dominant victory over Carlo Bumina-ang at ONE Fight Night 24, which took place at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday.
From the opening bell, both men wasted no time engaging in a fierce exchange of strikes at the center of the ring.
Bumina-ang, eager to close the distance, found himself trapped by Baatarkhuu’s clinch as the Mongolian bruiser sought to bring the action to the mat.
Despite Baatarkhuu’s attempts to advance his position and secure a submission, Bumina-ang’s defense on the ground was commendable, preventing his opponent from making significant headway.
The action intensified as the fighters returned to their feet. Baatarkhuu relentlessly pressured “The Bull” with his clinch game, setting the stage for a more intriguing second round.
The two began the succeeding frame by swapping crisp blows, with Bumina-ang finding his boxing rhythm. However, “The Tormentor” remained undeterred, pressing forward and landing effective counterpunches.
Baatarkhuu’s persistence paid off when he secured a double-leg takedown, putting Bumina-ang in a precarious position and fastening a rear-naked choke. The Team Lakay fighter fought valiantly to survive, making it to the third and final stanza.
Unfortunately for Bumina-ang, Baatarkhuu picked up where he left off, taking his Filipino foe down again and quickly seeking another submission.
Transitioning from a rear-naked choke to an arm-triangle choke, Baatarkhuu maintained full control over Bumina-ang on the canvas.
As the bout drew to a close, Baatarkhuu unleashed a barrage of punches and then found a way to latch on a tight arm-triangle choke.
With just one second remaining in the round, Baatarkhuu rendered Bumina-ang unconscious, prompting referee Herb Dean to step in and wave off the contest.
Courtesy of this cunning performance, Baatarkhuu returned to the winner’s circle, improving his standing to 11-3.
The victory also extended his winning streak against Filipino fighters, having previously defeated Adonis Sevilleno, Rockie Bactol, Jhanlo Sangiao, and now Carlo Bumina-ang.
For Bumina-ang, the loss marked the first of his professional career, dropping his record to 6-1.
