12 players present as Gilas rev up FIBA World Cup prep

Twelve players were in uniform as Gilas Pilipinas continued its daily practices for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, Thursday evening at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.

Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, and naturalized center Andray Blatche spearheaded the session.

Mark Barroca, Poy Erram, Raymond Almazan, Paul Lee, Matthew Wright, and young guns Kiefer Ravena, CJ Perez, and Robert Bolick joined the veteran trio as well.

Slotman Beau Belga completed the cast of players present.

Pool members June Mar Fajardo, Troy Rosario, and Roger Pogoy are all absent. The three are currently in the midst of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, with San Miguel up 3-2 over TNT.

Marcio Lassiter is still recovering from a knee injury, and was also absent.

The Filipino dribblers have exactly 16 days left before the global basketball spectacle starts on August 31.

Before that, Gilas will figure in a pair of tuneups against the visiting Australian ball club Adelaide 36ers on August 23 and 25 as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
