Calvin Abueva will miss a few games early in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Magnolia forward himself bared that he’s still recovering from the procedure he underwent just last month to remove hemorrhoids.
In fact, he’s only been to Hotshots practices twice, thus his eagerness to heal up the soonest and get back on track to regain his form.
“One month na ngayon pero hindi pa masyadong ganun ka-stable,” he said. “Pero [sana] soon, mas bumilis pa ‘yung recovery, makabalik na sa ensayo.”
Abueva actually joined Magnolia in the league’s Media Day at One Esplanade Wednesday but struggled a bit, especially during his interview with the press.
“Sobra pang sakit,” said the 35-year-old, who could not sit properly during the scrum due to the pain. “Tingnan niyo upo ko, naka-side ako.”
Abueva said that the hemorrhoids began showing up before he and Gilas Pilipinas began practicing for the 19th Asian Games.
It then worsened after the training camp that he sought the doctors’ help immediately, soon leading to the hemorrhoidectomy.
The two-time BPC admitted it could’ve been nicer had he become part of the gold-winning Nationals, but health is of utmost importance for him.
“Baka dun (Hangzhou) pa nga ako magkalat eh,” said Abueva. “Sayang gold pero mas [mahalaga] pa rin pangangatawan natin.”
Magnolia will usher the upcoming PBA season versus TNT on November 5 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in the lone game of opening day.
