Aaron Fuller finally made his long-delayed debut for the Blackwater Elite on Friday evening.
Fuller has been sidelined a long while thanks to an ankle injury, prompting the Elite to get Marqus Blakely as a replacement. Tonight, though, he played like he never left, making 26 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in over 37 minutes.
Unfortunately, he did not get the welcome he wanted. The Elite lost to the Columbian Dyip, 90-102.
“I did alright. Most important thing was trying to get a win, but that didn’t happen for us. Regardless of how I played, I’d rather get the win,” lamented Fuller, formerly of the NLEX Road Warriors, moments after the defeat.
Still, interim head coach Aris Dimaunahan was pleased with Fuller’s performance despite the loss.
“Numbers are okay,” he said. “He scored twenty-six, grabbed ten, issued three assists, no turnovers, one steal and two blocks. For an import to play in his first game, okay ako dun.
“Ang masakit lang is we didn’t get the job done of getting the win.”
Despite Fuller’s commendable outing, Dimaunahan revealed that management will still discuss their import for the next two games. The Elite need to rack up the wins now that they have dropped to 1-3 in the standings.
“We’ll re-assess about the import, who will it be in the coming games,” said the 41-year-old bench tactician.
“Ang hinihintay lang natin is the final decision on whomever will be our import for the rest of the conference.”
