Bay Area is switching imports once again.
The guest team has reactivated Andrew Nicholson in lieu of Myles Powell ahead of its PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal duel versus Rain or Shine, as seen in the Transactions page of the league’s official website Thursday.
Powell has been relegated to the IR list.
Nicholson played for four games during the elimination round and averaged 38.5 points and 11.5 rebounds before being replaced by his fellow former NBA cager, who steered the Dragons to a hot 4-0 start to the conference.
Powell’s return for their ninth game gave the impression that the Hong Kong-based ball club is going all the way with the guard from New Jersey, based on the arrangement agreed upon by the team and the league.
He was undefeated in his comeback as Bay Area swept all of its remaining assignments on the way to clinching the top seed (10-2), arming the crew as well with a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs’ opening round.
The 25-year-old’s first game back saw him erupt for 50 points on 11 three-pointers and 11 rebounds against, coincidentally, the Elasto Painters in a dominant 120-87 mauling last November 11 at the Ynares Center.
Powell is currently leading the league in scoring with 37.3 points on 43.2-percent shooting from beyond the arc, and is also averaging 8.4 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in 35.5 minutes of play.
Still, the Dragons interestingly made the switch by bringing back Nicholson, who actually went 2-2 during his stint. Their losses that came at the hands of current no. 3 seed Barangay Ginebra and the also-ran Meralco.
Nonetheless, the 6-foot-10 big man brings more size to a team that has become more well-rounded as the likes of Glenn Yang, Zhu Songwei, and Kobey Lam have been turning heads with their fine play as of late.
