Mikey Williams vowed that he will do whatever it takes to get ready for the next game after suffering an ankle injury early in TNT’s Game Two loss to San Miguel, Wednesday night.
“I’ll be ready for Game Three,” he said while on the way out of the SMART Araneta Coliseum after their 109-100 loss, visibly hurt as he was limping.
“I will do whatever I have to do – if it’s cryo chamber or an ice bath, I’ll figure out a way to get better,” the league’s reigning scoring king furthered.
Williams hobbled into the locker room immediately at the 7:31-mark of the first quarter. He slipped while dribbling to his left, and his left leg accidentally landed on by Simon Enciso, who also lost balance while guarding him.
He was actually on the floor for a moment before getting back up on the way to the Tropang Giga dugout, with some of the team’s staff on his aide.
“I really didn’t see the play. All I remember is just being on the floor,” he said. “I can’t really quote too much. I have to hobble into the locker room.”
Williams, though, was able to return to the game shortly after. He only finished with seven points on 10 shots in his lowest output in a long while. And he admitted that the injury did affect the way he moved on the court.
“I just tried to push through for my team and try to play on it. But it was hurting the whole game,” he said.
Then again, Williams vowed that he’ll be ready to play in Game Three on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena. TNT aims to take a 2-1 lead.
