Kalei Mau played in just the first set and went down two places in the Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Season 2.
Mau’s Team Cruz, despite winning two sets, bowed to Team McClendon, 68-71 (17-25, 25-22, 26-24), Saturday (Manila time) at the Fair Park Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.
The 6-foot-2 Fil-Hawaiian spiker was limited to just two points via an attack and a service ace. She still had 14 digs.
Starting the day as the 30th-ranked player, Mau slipped to 32nd with 205 points.
Team McClendon still got the overall win due to a huge first set, where it outscored Team Cruz by eight points, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Team Cruz clinched the second and third salvos by just a combined five points.
Dani Drews led Team McClendon with 19 points scattered through 14 attacks, three blocks, and two service aces laced with 11 digs for 315 points. A huge 25 spot jump to eighth place.
Libero Morgan Hentz was the top gainer for Team Cruz with 230 points, thanks to 18 digs, 15 excellent receptions, and two aces. She leapfrogged from 27th to 12th.
Mau and Team Cruz will cap the first weekend tomorrow against Team De la Cruz at 10 am (Manila time).
