Thirty-five hours.
That was the total time AP.Bren Esports had to endure traveling from Iasi, Romania due to several flight disruptions for their journey back to the Philippines.
They arrived at 1 am, feeling very tired, but they still had to face the TNC Pro team in roughly 17 hours upon arrival for the MPL Philippines Season 12 debut.
“Mahirap yung nangyari sa amin. Thirteen IESF athletes were denied boarding in Iasi, including my players. So nagbus sila for six hours going to Bucharest only to be denied boarding again,” recalled coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro on their journey back to the Philippines after winning the MLBB title at the IESF World Esports Championship last week.
“Unfortunately, walang flight during that time so we had to wait for 24 hours dun sa airport. Luckily, sinagot kami ni Boss Marlon Marcelo.”
Duckey expressed his deep gratitude to the Philippine Esports Organization executive director who worked non-stop to help address the struggles of the Sibol MLBB team during the trip back to the country.
With all the anxieties brought about by this predicament, the reigning Sea Games gold medalists even thought they might have to forfeit their opening match in the MPL.
“Hindi na kami sure kung aabot kami kasi kung natuloy kami sa 9 pm flight, I don’t think we can play the opening match.”
But destiny had other plans, and they found themselves dominating TNC in a 2-0 victory, launching a perfect start to their season.
Not bad for a team that had to travel from halfway across the world just a few hours prior.
