A commotion took place just in the opening minutes of Game Two of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal clash between sister teams TNT and Meralco, Tuesday evening.
It happened with about less than three minutes into the game during a deadball situation. And at the center were KaTropa gunner Roger Pogoy and Bolts assistant coach Chris Tan.
Both Pogoy and Tan were assessed by the referees with technical fouls for verbal altercation.
That scuffle sparked just moments after Pogoy and Baser Amer bumped into each other. Apparently, the two have some bad blood going on dating back to the series opener two nights ago.
Amer accused the former Far Eastern University standout of pinching — yes, pinching — him since last game.
“Actually last game pa lang, ang dami niyang kurot sa ‘kin eh,” shared the San Beda product. “Ang daming kurot. Sa tiyan ko, sa legs ko. Last game ang dami … As in may mga pasa ako.
“Nakakabastos kasi wala naman akong ginagawa or kaming ginagagawa sa kanila pero andun ‘yung pambu-bully.”
Amer, though, did not let that get in his way and just played on. He eventually finished with 20 points spiked by four triples, helping Meralco tie the series at one game apiece, 114-94.
Pogoy, on the other hand, laid a big fat egg, as he went 0-for-5 from the field in the 32 minutes he saw action.
“Nandiyan ‘yung mga coaches mga teammates ko na [sinasabihan ako na] okay lang, na baka kurutin ka ulit, okay lang basta galingan mo lang, ‘wag ka magpa-apekto,” Amer said.
And should Pogoy do that again, Amer said that he will simply remain focused on the game itself.
“Gawin niya ulit sa Game Three, Game Four, or maybe Game Five, laro lang ako, focus lang ako. Gusto ko lang manalo,” he said.
“Hopefully makita ng referee ‘yun kasi hindi na basketball yun eh.”
Pogoy was sought by Tiebreaker Times for his side on the matter, but he declined to comment.
