The University Athletic Association of the Philippines has confirmed that National University standout Alyssa Solomon remains eligible to compete in the ongoing UAAP Season following her withdrawal from the 2025 Korean Volleyball Federation Asian Quota Draft.
The UAAP Board of Managing Directors issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that while Solomon had initially submitted her name for the upcoming Asian Quota Draft, her prompt decision to withdraw from the process ensured her continued eligibility to compete as an amateur.
“The University Athletic Association of the Philippines Board of Managing Directors, after due deliberation, confirmed that National University student-athlete Alyssa Solomon remains eligible to compete in the UAAP,” the league’s statement read.
“While the BMD noted that Solomon did apply and was included in the draft list of the 2025 Korean Volleyball Federation Asian Quota Draft, her subsequent action in immediately withdrawing her application allowed her to continue competing in the ongoing UAAP Season.”
The matter stemmed from KOVO’s March 6, 2025, announcement listing Solomon among the players who had filed applications for the Asian Quota Draft set for April 11, 2025.
Per UAAP regulations, student-athletes who appear in the final list of a professional league’s draft while the UAAP season is active risk losing their amateur status and, consequently, their eligibility to participate in collegiate competitions.
Recognizing the potential impact, Solomon quickly withdrew her name from the draft, preserving her standing as an amateur athlete.
“The UAAP remains committed to ensuring the integrity of its competitions and the welfare of its student-athletes,” the statement concluded.
With this clearance, Solomon is now poised to resume her campaign with the NU Lady Bulldogs, where she has been a pivotal figure in their quest for UAAP volleyball supremacy.
