Akari continued its surge after bouncing back from an opening-set loss to topple Capital1, 17-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17, securing its third consecutive win in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Saturday night at the Filoil Centre.
After dropping their first three games in the all-local conference, the Chargers gradually found their rhythm and identity, taking down Nxled, Cignal, and the Solar Spikers to even their record at 3-3.
“Siyempre, masaya. Lahat naman ng effort nakikita natin going to this game, especially ‘yun nga third winning streak. Mas masaya kasi magkakaroon na kami ng tamang timpla,” said Akari head coach Tina Salak.
“Isa rin yung bench namin, magkakaroon na rin ng identity kasi ‘yun ang pinaka-main factor ng ginagawa namin sa training,” she added.
Ivy Lacsina once again provided the firepower, tallying 19 points from 17 attacks as the Chargers sustained their late surge in the preliminaries, aiming for a strong finish and to avoid the play-in round.
Eli Soyud contributed 14 points, built on 11 attacks, two service aces, and one block, while Chenie Tagaod sparked the team off the bench with 12 points and four excellent receptions in nearly two hours of action.
Fifi Sharma added nine points, and fellow middle blocker Ced Domingo—who did not start this match but had started the previous three—stepped up with two points despite being under the weather.
Mars Alba directed the offense with 24 excellent sets and four points, while team captain Justine Jazareno recorded 17 excellent digs and three excellent receptions for Akari.
The Chargers aim to maintain their momentum when they face the streaking Creamline on Thursday at 4 p.m., also at Filoil.
Meanwhile, Capital1, coming off a five-set win over Farm Fresh, fell to 3-4 in the standings.
Bella Belen was the lone double-digit scorer for the Solar Spikers, extending her streak of 20-point games to seven with a 24-point effort—22 coming from attacks—while also contributing 13 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.
No other player reached double digits for Capital1. Shaya Adorador added nine points, while Sydney Niegos, coming off a career-high 20-point game, was limited to just eight in the defeat.
Jasmine Nabor recorded 22 excellent sets and two points, and Cherry Nunag chipped in seven markers on three attacks, three blocks, and one ace.
Capital1 will look to bounce back against Cignal next Saturday at 6:30 p.m., also at the Filoil Centre.
