Bali Pure-NU continues streaking, condemns BanKo to 4th straight loss

Showing composure beyond their years, the young Bali Pure-National University Water Defenders outlasted the BanKo Perlas Spikers, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 32-20, for their third win in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

While import Janisa Johnson carried most of the offensive load, Bali Pure’s Junior Lady Bulldogs contingent made the big plays down the stretch. With Johnson and Alexis Matthews both in the back row for the fourth set’s conclusion, Ivy Lacsina stuffed a Jutarat Motripilia to tie the set at 30. Princess Robles then clinched Bali Pure’s last two points, converting a back row hit followed by an ace.

“For us now it’s a lot about sustainability,” said Bali Pure head coach Babes Castillo, who stressed the importance of getting his players in peak condition through rest.

“We need more one-hit conversions eh. Minsan natatagalan kami to get a point. I think a big part of that is just getting our players more rest and recovery para maging sustainable ‘yung energy namin,” the decorated juniors head coach furthered.

Johnson finished with 30 points, while Matthews added 18.

Montripilia managed 18 points for BanKo, who skidded to their fourth straight loss.

Bali Pure (3-1) take on the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors (1-2) on Sunday at the Batangas City Coliseum. BanKo (1-4) will try to end their funk against PayMaya (3-1) on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
