Blackwater newest addition Kyle Pascual played his first game for the Elite Sunday, scoring seven points in over 17 minutes although the team lost to NLEX, 88-75.
Pascual also had two rebounds and converted a triple. After the game, the center said “it has been a smooth transition” for him in his new team, and he feels he can thrive in head coach Leo Isaac’s system.
“Everyone has been welcoming. Coach Leo’s system gives a lot of freedom to the players. It wasn’t really hard adjusting. We had good practices that gave me time to know the players. I am just ready for whatever coach asks of me,” Pascual, who was acquired last week in exchange for Jason Ballesteros, said.
“Right now it’s playing defense, getting rebounds. Whenever I’m open I’ll take some shots.”
Pascual did admit he was surprised with the switch, but having a long break helped in the adjustment.
“I was really surprised. It was last Saturday, my manager just told me I might get traded. It wasn’t sure yet, and then the next day it pushed through. I just got traded and everything happened really quick,” he shared.
Pascual, who went 2-for-8 from the field in his Blackwater debut, also likes what the system is offering him on offense, putting him in good positions to score.
“That’s what I like about their offense. I did miss a lot of shots but the looks are there, the shots are there, I just have to be ready next time nd hopefully make more of those shots,” he said.
Under a new squad, the 24th overall pick of the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft said he will just continue working hard to make the most out of every break.
“I am just thankful for the opportunity. Another expansion team, I feel like I will get opportunities and get minutes on the court. I’ll just keep working hard, that’s it,” Pascual closed.
