Lindsay Stalzer, Hillary Hurley carry Petron past Sta. Lucia for second win

Proving their billing as the best pair of imports in the 2017 Chooks-to-Go Philippine Superliga Grand Prix, Lindsay Stalzer and Hillary Hurley scored more than half of the Petron Blaze Spikers’ points and overwhelmed the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors in four sets, 27-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Petron’s imports nearly went for twin 30-point outings, with returning Stalzer tallying 29 while Hurley added 27.

Both imports were pivotal in the first set, providing the winning points in a tight deuce. Holding a 2-0 lead, Petron let up in the third set, much to the chagrin of head coach Shaq Delos Santos.

“Nawalan kami ng serve at ng receive,” rued Delos Santos, “Pero ang maganda talaga sa team ko is mabilis sila mag-adjust. Malaking bagay din ‘yung ginawa ng imports namin kasi, sabi ko nga, quality talaga lahat ng lineup pati imports this season.”

By the fourth set, Petron had the match in hand as Sta. Lucia ran out of steam early. Hurley and Stalzer combined for 11 of Petron’s points in the fourth frame to seal the win.

Sta. Lucia’s Bodhana Anisova had no problem shaking off her jetlag, tallying 17 points while middle blocker Marisa Field managed 14.

The Blaze Spikers sprinted to the top of the standings with a 2-0 record. They take on the Cignal HD Spikers (1-0) on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. The Lady Realtors dropped to an 0-2 slate, with F2 Logistics (0-0) as their next assignment on November 7.
