Despite another rollercoaster performance in the final round, Yuka Saso finally claimed her rightful spot back at the top 10.
The two-time LPGA of Japan tour champion just came up short of a third, but ended up at tied 10th place at the conclusion of the 2020 Fujitsu Ladies Golf Tournament, Sunday afternoon at the Tokyu Seven Hundred Club, Chiba.
Saso rescued a respectable finish after two birdies in the last two holes sealed her comeback in the elite circle, ending the round and the tournament at 2-under 214.
The 19-year-old started the round coming from even par and kept at it for most of the back nine. She then needed an extra shot in the 8th hole, but regained even with a birdie at the 9th.
Two more birdies in the back nine and two more bogeys afterward pushed Saso further and out of contention, before she ended the round with a flourish.
With the finish, Saso pocketed Y1,935,000 to keep her lead at the money board.
Moreover, the top-10 finish also pushed her back to the Mercedes Ranking for the best player of the season. The Filipina-Japanese has now accumulated 808.85 points, 55.01 points adrift rival Sakura Koiwai.
Jiyai Shin of South Korea claimed her first win of the tour along with the 18-million yen winner’s share, after a 7-under 209 aggregate.
