Moments after Yuka Saso locked in the Philippines’ second gold in the 2018 Asian Games, she and the rest of the Women’s Team took down the competition in the Women’s Team Event.
The 17-year-old phenom Saso, together with 20-year-old Bianca Pagdanganan and 19-year-old Lois Kaye Go, combined for a 22-554 to break away from the field.
The Korean trio of Haeran Ryu, Heejeong Lim, and Yunji Jeong placed second with 19-557 while China’s Wenbo Liu, Mohan Du, and Ruoning Yin bagged bronze with 18-558.
This is the Philippines’ third gold so far in the continental meet.
Moreover, this is the first gold of the country in the team event. Ruby Chic, Yvette de Leon, Mary Grace Estuesta, and Jamille Jose (1990); Dorothy Delasin, Ria Quiazon, and Jennifer Rosales (1998); Heidi Chua, Ria Quiazon. and Carmelette Villaroman (2002) all won bronze.
